Modern Warfare 4 Arsenal Update by U4GM

Modern Warfare 4's weapon talk has moved well beyond random forum chatter. Leaked files, trailer footage, and gameplay previews are starting to line up, giving players a decent idea of what might be ready for launch. If you're already planning classes or grinding attachments through CoD MW4 Bot Lobbies, this is the part worth watching, because several familiar guns may return with very different roles.

Assault rifles look set to dominate the launch pool

The assault rifle category appears to be doing most of the heavy lifting. The M4 and Kastov 762 are reportedly back, giving players two obvious all-rounders with very different recoil patterns. The Cronen Squall could fill a harder-hitting role, while the ASH 12.7 is expected to bring serious damage at the cost of speed and control. That mix should suit both casual public matches and players who spend most of their time tuning builds in Gunsmith.

The new rifles players keep talking about

Two names have created more curiosity than the returning favourites. The Axion is believed to draw inspiration from the HK437, while the Hion Burst reportedly borrows ideas from the SAR-21 and uses a burst-fire setup. Neither weapon has been properly explained by Activision, so the leaked names could still change. There's also a chance the Galil appears later, either as a launch surprise or part of a seasonal weapon drop.

1. Axion may reward controlled bursts and steady mid-range positioning.

2. Hion Burst could punish missed shots but excel in disciplined hands.

SMGs should keep close-range fights messy

Submachine guns seem to have a familiar, fast-moving identity. The MP7 reportedly returns under the Vel 46 name, and the Fennec, based on the Vector, is also listed in current references. The PPSh-41 gives old-school players something recognisable, with a chunky profile and aggressive close-range potential. Meanwhile, the fictional X58 Nikes could become the wildcard. Weapons like that often look strange on paper, then quietly become favourites once players find the right movement and magazine setup.

Shotguns and machine guns fill specific jobs

The shotgun selection may be smaller, but it doesn't look short on personality. The Resi12, inspired by the Benelli M3, has appeared in promotional material, while internal references point to the AA-12 and Mossberg 500. LMG fans may see the FiNN LMG and Type 73 return, alongside heavier weapons added later. These guns probably won't dominate every map. They're more likely to shine when a team needs lane control, sustained fire, or a way to hold a power position.

Weapon group Reported examples Likely role
Assault rifles M4, Kastov 762, Axion Flexible mid-range fights
SMGs Vel 46, Fennec, PPSh-41 Fast close-range pressure
Shotguns and LMGs Resi12, AA-12, FiNN LMG Breach work and lane control

That spread gives the leaked arsenal a fairly believable shape. Not every weapon needs to be a meta pick; some just need a clear job and a reason to build around it.

Snipers and precision rifles bring the range

Long-range players have plenty to follow. The Signal.50, Mosin-Nagant, and several anti-material rifles are all linked to the current leak roundup. The Mosin could appeal to players who prefer a slower, more deliberate rhythm, while the Signal.50 should offer the familiar heavy-sniper feel. The G28-inspired MAR 9 is another interesting entry. As a marksman rifle, it may sit between assault rifles and snipers, rewarding accurate shots without forcing players into a full bolt-action playstyle.

1. Signal.50 should suit players who favour heavy damage and slower handling.

2. MAR 9 may offer flexibility across medium and long sightlines.

Sidearms, launchers, and the parts still hidden

The secondary weapon list is shaping up nicely, too. Reported options include the Desert Eagle, HK45, a Magnum revolver, Javelin, Strela-P, and Combat Knife. More pistols and launchers are mentioned in internal files, though names and availability remain unclear. Some guns may be held back for post-launch seasons, especially if Infinity Ward wants to keep new weapon drops coming after release.

Why the fictional guns still matter

Not every weapon in the leak has a direct real-world counterpart. That's not necessarily a problem. Infinity Ward can borrow handling ideas, reload animations, and sound characteristics from similar firearms while creating something new for the game. Community researchers have also pointed out that prototype weapons can't always be recorded directly, so developers may recreate their audio from comparable platforms. Until official footage confirms the lineup, treat every name as provisional. Players looking to prepare early can use Bot Lobbies MW4 to level weapons and test attachments, but the real surprise may come when the full Gunsmith system is shown.
